Here are 17 of the most interesting and hilarious revelations from the no-holds-barred chat. (Beware: Spoilers ahead for those of you who haven’t read the books.)
Jennifer’s favorite scene in one in which Peeta is knocked unconscious and Katniss and Finnick (Sam Claflin) both try to resuscitate him. “Sam gives him mouth-to-mouth,” she says. “I just kiss him.”
Liam’s toughest part to film was the one in which Gale is whipped by a Peacekeeper — a scene that took three days to shoot. “[It was] Only enjoyable for a short amount of that time,” he laughs. “The first whip was good!”
Josh was surprised by emotional the film is, even in the scenes he thought would be all action.
If she were a tribute trying to impress sponsors, Jen says she could do an infinite number of cartwheels. “And I think I’d probably get a zero”
Who couldn’t match that talent? Liam. “I dislocated my shoulder doing a cartwheel just recently,” he revealed.
Jen and Francis say that Josh is an absurdly-good dancer.
Josh’s weirdest fan interaction just happened yesterday, November 5, as he ate a cheeseburger in a restaurant. He says that a man approached him and said, “Hey, I don’t like any of your movies.”
With which of the arena’s hazards would the actors have the best chance? “The lightning tree, because then you’d just stay away from the tree,” Jen explains.
Who’s the better kisser in Jen’s opinion: Josh or Liam? “You know I could never do that!” she replies. “They’re both really good kissers. How ’bout we have them kiss each other and then decide?”
Jen is the only one of the three leads who has not been Punk’d. “I wanna get punk’d!” she exclaims.
Whose voice would the jabberjays emulate if the actors were in the arena? “Ryan Seacrest,” Jennifer jokes. “Susan Sarandon!” Josh responds. “Sigourney Weaver!” Jen fires back.
It was the new actors who pranked the returning ones, as Jennifer reveals: “Jeffrey Wright [Beetee] handed me a Tiffany’s box, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, Jeffrey!’ Inside was a million crickets … I did try to rack my brain about what could get Jeffrey upset, and it’s like, nothing.”
Movements are harder for J.Law to memorize than lines. “My brain and my body have never connected,” she laughs. Adds Liam: “Whenever there’s something to fall over, you find it.”
If Jen could be any other character, it’d be Effie Trinket. “But I could never pull it off like [Elizabeth Banks]. My voice is too deep.”
Did Jen’s Oscar win affect how her cast and crew treated her on set? “If anything it just made me a target. Now, whenever I flub my line, Woody [Harrelson] is like, ‘Well, you better give that Oscar back.'”
While goofing around one night, Jen gave Josh a concussion with what Josh described as “a textbook roundhouse kick.”
But he wasn’t the only one to be injured on set. Jen’s eardrum was punctured by a water jet. “I went deaf in one ear for two-and-a-half weeks.”
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters on November 22, 2013.
