Jennifer Lawrence Web has two new themes for the main site and the photo gallery. The main site’s theme was designed by Ray and the photo gallery was designed by myself. I hope you love them as much as I do!

I have also added a poll, which I will be doing every month, for pictures of the month. In the sidebar, click on the links and vote which picture you think deserves the POTM award.

Luca Guadagnino, currently drumming up Oscar buzz for the ravishing “Call Me by Your Name,” will direct Jennifer Lawrence in “Burial Rites,” Variety has learned. Lawrence will produce, as well as star in the true-crime drama. TriStar Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures, has worldwide rights to the picture.

The film draws on Hannah Kent’s 2013 novel of the same name, and centers on Agnes Magnusdottir (Lawrence), the last woman to be publicly executed in Iceland in 1830. Agnes was sentenced to death for killing two men and setting fire to their home. The story takes place as Agnes awaits confirmation of her death sentence by the high court, a period of time that finds her reluctantly forging emotional and romantic bonds, while reflecting on her supposed crimes.

Allison Shearmur, an executive who oversaw development and production of “The Hunger Games” at Lionsgate, and Justine Ciarrocchi will produce with Lawrence. Shearmur most recently produced “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and is also producing the upcoming “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

Gary Ross and Jerry Kalajian will executive produce. At one point, it had looked like Ross would direct the film, potentially reuniting him with Lawrence, the star of “The Hunger Games.” An earlier iteration of the project had been set up at Lionsgate. TriStar president Hannah Minghella and Shary Shirazi, a creative executive, will oversee the production for TriStar Pictures. Source

“Third place went to Darren Aronofsky’s mother!, which not only opened with a supremely disappointing $7.5 million from 2,368 locations, but became one of only 19 films to ever receive an “F” CinemaScore suggesting a 60+% drop next weekend and a short-lived theatrical experience. The overall audience was 44% male vs. 56% female, of which 18% were under the age of 25. For star Jennifer Lawrence this is her worst wide debut ever, falling almost $5 million shy of her much-maligned September 2012 thriller House at the End of the Street, which debuted with $12.2 million despite an 11% rating on RottenTomatoes compared to the 68% rating for mother!

Internationally, mother! opened in 16 markets where it brought in an estimated $6 million including $1.3 million in France, $1.1 million in both the UK and Russia, $799k in Germany and $584k in Australia. Upcoming releases included Brazil (9/21), Mexico (9/22), Italy (9/28), Spain (9/29), Korea (10/19) and Japan (1/19).” Source

In a mere six years, Jennifer Lawrence has blazed past every marker of Hollywood stardom, with no sign of slowing down: next month’s science-fiction romance Passengers will be followed by movies with Steven Spielberg, Adam McKay, and Darren Aronofsky. In unreal circumstances, Lawrence is learning to assert herself as a real person, whether that means equal pay, privacy, or never being a bridesmaid again.

The bar of the Plaza Athénée, an elegant Upper East Side hotel, is empty save for an elderly French couple sipping Bordeaux at two P.M. when in bursts a tall blonde crackling with energy. It is Jennifer Lawrence, wearing a black cashmere sweater, jeans ripped at the knee, and black boots, her platinum hair chopped into a chic bob. Delicate gold jewelry circles her wrists, neck, and fingers, and her most pronounced accessory, a security team, looms nearby.

She orders tea and explains, “I am playing a ballerina in my next movie, so my first step is not drinking alcohol for every meal of the day. Obviously I’m still drinking every day,” she adds, in the same engaging, infectious manner America has come to love.
