When Jennifer Lawrence landed the role of Katniss Everdeen in the first “The Hunger Games” two years ago, neither she nor the film’s producer, Nina Jacobson, nor financial backer Lionsgate could imagine the magnitude of what would transpire for all of them.
The then-20-year-old actress had already landed on Hollywood’s radar for her brilliant turn as Ree Dolly, a determined Ozark teen searching for her missing father in 2010’s “Winter’s Bone.” But while the critically acclaimed movie earned Oscar nominations for the film and for Lawrence’s performance, it grossed a paltry $6.5 million at the domestic box office.
Jacobson had earned respect as a savvy film executive at Universal, DreamWorks and Disney, but she hadn’t yet set the world afire as an independent producer. And Lionsgate, despite having carved out a respectable niche as a scrappy independent studio, best known for its Tyler Perry and “Saw” film series, had seen its stock severely depressed due in large part to a bruising four-year corporate battle with its largest shareholder, Carl Icahn, for control of the company.
What a difference two years has made.

On her Golden Globe feelings: ”So confused and so happy. Really excited.”
What made her connect with the character: ”Probably my love for the character, my love for David [O. Russell], and his amazing script.”
Is there a song that sets you off like “My Cherie Amour” in the film? ”‘Come On Baby Light My Fire.’ I was losing at tennis and throwing a total tantrum, so every time I hear that song I want to throw a tennis racket.”
On feelings about working with Bradley Cooper and the Oscar nod: ”I feel very good about both those things. Bradley is an amazing actor, an amazing actor to work with and an incredible person. I feel quite good about the Oscar nod. It feels quite wonderful.”
On feelings toward the nickname J Law: ”That’s been going on for years. My, like, 7th grade teacher started saying J Law, so to hear Will Ferrell say that is incredible. I’ll be getting lots of texts about that!”
On thinking about the Oscars: ”That gives me a lot of anxiety, so no. I do think about them. I’ve been thinking about everyone in the cast. Me and the Oscars together gives me lots of anxiety.”
On the dress: ”The dress is Dior Haute Couture. I had about 40 people put me into it — no, three. I’ve never been good at walking in heels.”
On taking the part: ”Well, I was wrong for the part. I was way too young, but I guess we turned that around. We fixed it in postproduction.”

This is Jennifer’s second nomination being the first in 2011 for her role in Winter’s Bone, unfortunately she lost to Natalie Portman. This year we will all be rooting for her. Read her reaction to the nomination:
I was having a sleep over with my parents and I was asleep when they came into my room and told me what happened, I’m so honored and grateful for this nomination and to be in the company of such talented actresses. Having the fortunate opportunity to work with David O. Russell was an extraordinary gift, and I am so thrilled for my fellow cast members Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver who are all nothing short of amazing. This was a labor of love that we all poured our hearts into and could not be more thankful to The Weinstein Company and Harvey Weinstein for their unyielding support of the film. I thought I would wake up, but I didn’t. My parents spent the night at my house, and they came in and kissed me on the forehead and told me about all the nominations for Silver Linings, I went into this because of David [O. Russell]. I’ve seen everything he’s ever done. And I was so blown away by Bradley [Cooper] and the rest of the cast.

To celebrate the 120th anniversary of Vogue, the magazine focused on the most influential singers, designers, actors, models (and more) of the moment, under 45. Along with the beautiful picture taken by Norman Jean Roy, where Jennifer wears a Diesel Black Gold jacket and a Michael Kors swimsuit, she says “I have a quickie relationship with fashion, I wear a dress for one night on the red carpet, and that’s it, she also claims to have pity for the paparazzi because according to her “there are only so many pictures they can take of me on the boardwalk in Santa Monica”.
To end the article Vogue says that if designers are fixating on Lawrence, it’s in no small part due to her sunny gorgeousness and her cool casualness toward getting dressed.
